Joanna's Piano lessons

As a teacher, I am patient, encouraging and approachable, creating enjoyable lessons where students can learn at their own pace and build confidence.

I teach pupils of all ages, from young children taking their first musical steps to adults discovering - or rediscovering- the joy of playing the piano.

I believe you are never too young or too old to learn, and that music lessons should be accessible, enjoyable and inclusive for everyone.

LESSONS TAILORED TO YOUR NEEDS

I am passionate about music and enjoy helping learners of all ages develop their confidence, enjoy making music and achieve their individual goals.

Whether you are learning piano simply for enjoyment or working towards formal examinations, I tailor each lesson to suit the individual learner, their interests, abilities and pace of learning.

I use the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) syllabus and have experience supporting learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN) both in schools and through private teaching. My approach is supportive, encouraging and personalised, helping each learner to make progress while developing a genuine enjoyment of music.

I am Enhanced DBS checked and regularly undertake professional development, including training in autism, ADHD and child protection, to ensure I can provide a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment for all my pupils.

I am also a Professional Member of the Independent Society of Musicians (ISM), supporting my commitment to maintaining high professional standards in my teaching.

With over 20 years of teaching experience, I am passionate about helping learners of all ages develop their piano skills, confidence and enjoyment of music through personalised, supportive lessons.

Over the years, I have had the pleasure of seeing pupils progress from complete beginners to advanced pianists, which is incredibly rewarding. I believe every learner has their own individual goals, abilities and pace of learning, and I aim to support and encourage them throughout their musical journey.

Building a positive relationship with both pupils and parents is also very important to me. Good communication and a strong teacher–parent–pupil relationship help ensure that learners receive the encouragement, guidance and support they need to make progress and enjoy their learning.

Years Teaching Experience

One of the greatest joys of teaching is watching young beginners grow in confidence, develop their musical skills and blossom into young adults. Being part of their journey along the way is incredibly rewarding.

Ana and Amelia are just two of the many pupils I’ve had the pleasure of teaching from a young age. It’s been lovely watching them grow, while seeing their confidence and piano skills develop along the way.

I also had the pleasure of teaching Nicole from a young age right through to 18, when she left for university to pursue her dream of becoming a vet.
